Can We Fill the Ballroom?

The ballroom at Temple Adath Yeshurun holds 300+ people. Do you think we can fill it? Email us if you are planning to attend Thursday's "Be the Change" rally. REMEMBER - the more visible you are, the less likely you are to be the victim of retaliation because THE MEDIA IS WATCHING, READY TO REPORT ON ANY INCIDENTS OF RETALIATION. The time has come to step out of the shadows and let your voice be heard! Can you do it?

  2. Parent caught trying to attack a student with a KNIFE at Nottingham

  3. Could someone investigate what happened at Nottingham today? Mother and daughter came to school with a knife to fight someone... In the end pepper spray was used, the principal was hit in the head, tasers were used by police, and they didn't have enough handcuffs to detain people. So much for perceived escalation....

  4. 3 fights at Nottingham today, 2 were related. My understanding is that a female Nottingham student was "jumped" last evening off school grounds. This appears to be a continuation of the drama. The mother and older sibling of student came to Nottingham to settle the score. A knife was pulled in the front lobby, one of them (not sure if it was mother or older sibling) was tazed. Both were arrested. One of the students involved in this fight has been in multiple fights this year but a review of the records shows she had only been suspended out of school 3 days this school year.

  7. Students who are involved in a fight(s) need to be removed from the regular school setting and placed in alternative schools for a period of time, until they earn their way back. This incident would not have happened if we had true suspension . The violence needs to end. I hope the parents react to this and that this incident is not pushed under the rug as usual.

    1. The alternate setting is NOT working! Ex. Students were sent from Danforth for an all out brawl in the school cafeteria (17 students involved), went to Grant for Atlas for about 3-4 months, returned and many of them came back and were fighting, even leading to an incident involving severl with knives and mace (6+). These studentts were suspended at the alternate program for fighting etc. there.

What is point? Contereas closed Carnegie School, but is opening the Latin School. How do you open anotherschool if you can't deal with the schools you have now?

What is reasoning for hiring more hearing officers if you don't want kids going to hearings or getting arrested?

Will it take a Class Action Lawsuit to be placed on the district...from parents or staff or a combination of both?

  8. Has anyone heard of an incident at Frazer yesterday? A mother brought 2 girls who were on homebound there to fight a student. The students from Frazer came out with mace and a knife. All got arrested and the super called the police to say she didn't want them arrested and could it be changed. She was told no by the police. I heard this second hand so I'm not sure if its true, can anyone look into it?

  9. Was the Frazer incident reported to the press? If so, where is the story? The moderator of the blog should keep track of reported incidents and report all to press. To include rumors that Contreras is actively interviewing in another state...the SCSD diving board has bounced her all the way to Atlanta. To include teacher getting stitches when trying to break up fight. To include teacher slugged in face while breaking up fight at Ed Smith.
